Harbin Vocational & Technical College Attends World Skills Russia and Gets Good Results 

November 19 to 27 in Khabarovsk, Russia-Mr. Liu Jianguo, vice-president of Harbin Vocational & Technical College led a delegation to Khabarovsk in Russia to attend World Skills Russia and our team in Tourism from School of Modern Service got bronze prize and Dai Lijuan, Li Peihui and Song Tingting got Professional Master Prize and Xie Ying and Wu Qiong were awarded Excellent Instructor.  

This competition has attracted more than 400 competitors from China, Japan, Republic of Korea and Khabarovsk, Комсомольск на Амуре in Russia, which has 15 competing terrains and 37 competitions. Harbin Vocational & Technical College sent Xie Yingand Wu Qiong as instructors and two teams including Dai Lijuan and Li Peihui from Department of Tourism and Song Tingting from Department of Character Image Design to attend this competition, which were only two teams from China. Before this competition, our teams have overcome many difficulties such as short of preparing time and multiple competition modules and languages. They spared no efforts to prepare for this competition and show to the judges their professional skills they have learned. Excellent skills and performances shown by our students got highly appraises by judges.  

Vice president Liu Jianguo has also attended Russia International Vocational Education Development Forum which attracts delegates from China, Japan, Republic of Korea and six regions from Russia. The main aim of this forum was to discuss and formulate new mechanism, cultivate high quality experts based on world standards and provide talents for economic development of the whole region. Mr. Liu communicated and exchanged his points of views with delegates on vocational education status quo and challenges we would face and problems we were encountering in the process of development. He made a keynote speech in the theme of “Advancing Understanding by Communication and Promoting Development by Cooperation” and introduced the development status quo of Chinese higher vocational education, recent development of Harbin Vocational & Technical College in recent years, results obtained in the field of international cooperation & exchanges and in the backbone college construction, which left a deep impression for the delegates. During his stay in Khabarovsk, Mr. Liu also communicated with leaders from Khabarovsk government and higher vocational colleges in this region on the issues of talents’ cultivation, teachers’ training and exchanges and students’ exchanges and S&R cooperation.   

At the conclusion meeting, President Liu Min spoke highly of excellent performances of our teachers and students and encouraged them to summarize experiences and work harder to be more familiar with standards of international skills competition and make full preparations for taking part in international competitions in the future. Students expressed their thoughts that they appreciated opportunities provided by Harbin Vocational & Technical College that enabled them to go outside to attend international competition and broaden their horizon and enlarged their knowledge. All of this has laid a solid foundation to their career development.

This participation in this competition in Russia is a tryout for Harbin Vocational & Technical College to go to globe to attend international competition. This trip has not only shown high level professional skills of our teachers and students, broaden our horizon and improved international reputation of Harbin Vocational & Technical College but also accumulated experiences for us to organize international professional skills competition in the future.
