On March 27, 2014, Las Vegas, USA, at the IPC Handmade Welding World Champion Challenge Scene, the 12 champions from the world’s division, waited with breath to wait for the chief referee to announce the final result. “The Second Prize, Zhao Hongyan” - in applause, an ordinary electronic assembly young woman from the China Air Industry Self-control Institute went to the podium of the IPC Handmade Welding World Champion Challenge.

Zhao Hongyan, a post-1980, is a technician of electronic engineering department and she is a famous “gold expert” in her unit. After eleven years of work, she wrote down eight work notes, which has witnessed the struggle and growth of a person; she took over the production of new products and removed faults for more than 10 times, which has witnessed the dedication and responsibility of a person. In the eleven years, Zhao Hongyan grew up from an ordinary graduate of a technical school into a silver medal winner of the world competition, assembling the “brain” of the national aircraft with wisdom and a pair of skillful hands.

Attentively, thinking of the pilot as her own family

In 2003, Zhao Hongyan, a 21 year old girl from North Shaanxi, graduated from Xi'an mechanic technical school. She entered an automatic control station and became an electronics assembler. Her first job was to weld a certain type of printed board. It was very difficult to distribute all kinds of wires on a board. Zhao Hongyan did not get discouraged. In the evening, she went back to the dormitory to read the relevant information and reference books, and took time for the training of the technicians. The more she learned, the more energetic she has. Later, as long as she did the work, the products she made were the trustworthy ones in the eyes of the inspector.

Responsibility, being committed to studying

Zhao Hongyan has learned many kinds of professional knowledge such as welding technology, standardization, component characteristics and so on. She has written eight notes of up to hundreds of thousands of characters. Zhao Hongyan, who is good at observing and thinking, finds that as long as the traverse is rotated in the opposite direction and the stress is released, the phenomenon of drum package will be greatly reduced, and a small improvement will also directly increase the survival rate of the product.

Calm, accumulating steadily to win in the competition

On March 23, 2014, as the champion of China’s competition area, Zhao Hongyan, who didn’t know a foreign language, went to the United States to participate in the second IPC manual welding world championship. QFP device was the most common one that the player lost points. Because the distance between pins was too small, it can only use support welding, and the bridge connection between pins was very easy. In order to improve the difficulty of the competition, the competition required no use of tin suction belt, which brought new challenges to the repair of the welding spot bridge, and many players were unable to weld it at once. Faced with the difficult problem, Zhao Hongyan completed the QFP welding very beautifully once with her rich experiences. Even the referee praised this clever girl repeatedly.
